More Than a School: Moments That Matter

More Than a School: Moments That Matter

As we enter Week 7, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many moments of joy, connection, and purpose that have filled our College over the past few weeks.

Week 5 was a particularly special time as we concluded our Prayer Week with Praise and Worship on the Green. It was deeply moving to witness our secondary student leaders gather in that same space, praying boldly and specifically for our College, our team, our students, and those in our community carrying unique needs. What a powerful reminder that God is at the centre of all we do!

We’ve also had moments of celebration and fun — our State of Origin game for Years 5 and 6 brought great spirit, and the Student vs Teacher match was a crowd-pleaser (yes, the students took the win this time!). These moments build more than school spirit — they build community.

I had the opportunity to connect with LiveFM, who are doing outstanding work helping to build stronger connections across our Townsville community. Our Holy Smoke team and the Jazz Collective both represented the College with excellence at the BBQ Battle, sharing great food, music, and joy with the Townsville public.

A special welcome back to some of our Teaching School pre-service teachers, returning from placement with many stories of learning and growth — it’s encouraging to see future educators shaped within our community.

Many of my days are spent in meetings — with curriculum leaders across the Education Group, and our support team leaders in IT, Maintenance, cleaners, bus drivers, OSHC, ELC, and Eaton — and while meetings can be time-consuming, they are also places of shared vision. These conversations are rich with evidence of an Education Group moving forward with strength, clarity, and purpose. Our Executive Team remains unwavering in their dedication to our mission, and I am so thankful for their leadership.

A quick but important reminder to our parents and carers: our car park is a shared zone, and we are still noticing instances of unsafe driving. For the safety of all, please drive cautiously and considerately. You’ll also see some changes to the car park in the coming weeks, mostly in signage and presence, as we continue working to provide a safer environment for all.

As we head into the back half of the term, let me leave you with this encouragement:

"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

Stay strong, stay joyful, and stay grounded in Him.

Blessings,

Robyn Hair
