Living Full of Faith - EVERY Day

Over the past few weeks, while I have enjoyed some reflective time with family, I have been drawn to meditate on a powerful idea drawn from our College verse - Matthew 25: 23 “Well done, good and faithful servant.” These words are not just a commendation—they are an invitation into a way of living.

Faithfulness can be misunderstood as simply “doing the right thing” or “staying consistent.” While those are part of it, faithfulness is so much deeper. It is about being full of faith—living with a quiet confidence that what we do today matters, and that God is at work in ways we may not yet see. It is about holding onto hope for tomorrow, even when today feels uncertain or ordinary.

The media – social, broadcast and print – are rife with chaos. In a world that celebrates quick results, recognition, and success, and reveals confusion, hurt and fear, faithfulness calls us to something different. Faithfulness calls us to show up each day with integrity, perseverance, and trust. It reminds us that small acts—done with great love and consistency—have lasting impact.

I once heard a story about a man who worked as a cleaner in a large hospital. His job was not glamorous—cleaning floors, bathrooms and emergency rooms, emptying bins, and maintaining order behind the scenes. Most people barely noticed him.

One day, a young doctor asked him how he stayed so positive doing such repetitive and dirty work. The cleaner smiled and said, “Every room I clean is a room where someone will heal. Every floor I mop is a place where hope walks in. I may not be the one performing the surgery, but I’m part of the healing.”

Years later, that same doctor, now the CEO of the hospital, reflected that this man had one of the most profound impacts on the culture of care within the building. His faithfulness—his consistent, unseen, wholehearted contribution—helped create an environment where others could thrive.

So I was led to ponder – what does this mean for me and for our Calvary community?

For our students, faithfulness looks like:

Trying their best, even when learning feels challenging
Being kind and respectful, even when no one is watching
Persevering through setbacks with courage and hope
For us as the adults in their world—parents, carers, and educators—it looks like:

Showing up each day with patience and love
Investing in relationships that take time to grow
Trusting that the seeds we plant now will bear fruit in time
Faithfulness is not about perfection; it is about persistence. It is about choosing hope over discouragement, trust over doubt, and purpose over convenience.

As a college, we are committed to nurturing a culture where faithfulness is valued and celebrated—not just in big achievements, but in the everyday moments that shape character and build strong foundations for the future.

May we all be encouraged to live as people who are full of faith, trusting that what we do today matters deeply for tomorrow.
