Generosity and Servanthood
Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant
At the heart of our college community is a simple but powerful calling: to serve others with generosity, humility, and love. Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:23 — “Well done, good and faithful servant” — remind us that faithfulness is often expressed through everyday acts of care, kindness, and service.
Across our college, we see this spirit of servanthood lived out daily — not only by our students, but also by the many adults who have been called to serve within our community.
Our teaching team live out their calling each day in the classroom. Teaching is far more than delivering content; it is a ministry of care, patience, encouragement, and investment in the lives of young people. Through their preparation, guidance, and commitment, our teachers faithfully serve students by helping them grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Behind the scenes, many others also serve our community in vital ways. Our maintenance team quietly ensure our grounds and facilities are safe and welcoming. Our operations team works diligently each day so that students and staff can learn and work in a well-cared-for environment. Our finance and administration teams steward the practical operations of the college with wisdom and diligence. Our bus drivers faithfully serve families each morning and afternoon, transporting students safely to and from school. Our Learning Enrichment aides provide invaluable support to students and teachers, often working closely with individuals who need extra encouragement and assistance to flourish.
Each of these roles reflects the heart of Christian service — faithfully using our gifts to serve others and contribute to a community that reflects Christ.
Encouragingly, we also see this value being intentionally nurtured in our students. Many of them regularly serve members of the wider community through visits and connection with local aged care residents. These moments — conversations, shared activities, and simply spending time together — bring joy and encouragement to people who deeply value the relationship.
Just this week Class 5 from Eaton College showed love and support to a local school breakfast program, helping ensure their students begin their day with nourishment and care. These simple acts of generosity help our students understand that serving others can have a powerful impact.
A key pathway that helps develop this heart of service is our Active Volunteering certificate, completed by students in Year 10. Through this program, students engage in a range of community service opportunities that allow them to step outside their own experiences and contribute meaningfully to the lives of others. Many discover that serving others is not just an activity, but a deeply rewarding way to live.
As a college, our hope is not only that students achieve academic success, but that they grow into people who notice the needs around them, respond with compassion, and faithfully serve wherever God places them.
We are grateful for the many members of our college community — staff and students alike — who demonstrate generosity and servant-hearted leadership every day. Together, these acts of service shape the culture of our college into one that reflects Christ’s example.
May we continue to encourage one another in this calling, so that in all we do — in classrooms, offices, buses, playgrounds, and the wider community — we live as faithful servants.
