Faithfulness in Action
Faithfulness in Action
I love being part of a Christian school. Seeing our students excel academically, discover their gifts on the sporting field, perform confidently on stage, and grow socially through meaningful connections is an important part of what we do as a College. However, one aspect that brings me particular joy is the space we intentionally create for students to grow in their faith.
Faithfulness is one of our core College values. It is a characteristic we seek to nurture in our students and encourage them to develop obedience to God’s Word and trust in His faithfulness. We desire for every student to be able to declare, “I will be full of faith and hope for the future.”
Recently, I have been deeply encouraged by the many expressions of faith in action across our College. I’ve heard of Primary students gathering at lunchtime to pray for their school and for one another. I’ve watched our Secondary College Captains faithfully lead a fortnightly prayer meeting, lifting up their teachers, the needs of their peers, and the unique pressures facing teenagers today. Student-led Connect Groups for boys and girls have also begun during lunch breaks, creating spaces for classmates to build relationships and grow in their faith.
In Chapel services, I see students worship together with joy, and I consistently hear our Chaplains encouraging them to trust God, listen for His voice, and live in obedience to His Word. Most recently, I observed our six College Captains pray for our local Member of Parliament, asking God to grant him wisdom and godly guidance as he represents our community.
All of this sits alongside what our teachers bring to the classroom - our daily devotions, class prayers, Christian Living lessons, and the many ways a Christian worldview is thoughtfully woven throughout our teaching and learning. Each week, our teachers pray individually for students by name, with the goal that by the end of the year every student—from Prep to Grade 12—will have been prayed for.
We can teach students many valuable earthly things, but there is something profoundly powerful about teaching them eternal truths. When students come to know who Jesus is, understand how deeply He loves them, and believe that He has good plans and a hopeful future for their lives, our work takes on even greater meaning. Providing students with the opportunity to recognise this alongside their academic growth is one of the great advantages a Christian school offers.
This week, as we celebrate Prayer Week and intentionally set aside time to pray for our students, their families, our staff, and our wider community, may we be reminded that faithfulness is not always expressed through grand or dramatic acts. More often, it is found in the quiet, daily choices to show up, remain consistent, and trust that God’s promises are true and reliable.
As we are reminded in Romans 12:12, “Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.”
My prayer for our College community is that we would find deep joy in the hope we have in Jesus; that we would remain persistent and full of faith during difficult days; and that we would cultivate a continual posture of prayer, so that together we may experience the goodness and faithfulness of God in all aspects of our lives.
God Bless,
Mr Martin Vucetic
