A Great Start To 2026!
A Great Start To 2026!
Dear Calvary Christian College parents and carers,
As we finish our second week of 2026, I am writing to share with you how encouraged I am by the strong and positive start our students have made to the academic year at Calvary Christian College. From our youngest learners at our ELC, to our new Prep students to our Year 12s, there is a wonderful sense of purpose, enthusiasm, and Christian community throughout the College.
Our classrooms are already filled with curiosity and a genuine desire to learn. Students are settling into routines, engaging deeply with their teachers, and showing the kind of character and commitment that reflects our College values. It has been a joy to see friendships forming, confidence growing, and students stepping into the year with optimism.
At both the Primary and Secondary assemblies this past week, I spoke to students about our theme for the year. As we reflect on our College verse well done good and faithful servant – Matthew 25:21, we can see this demonstrated through our College values of excellence, perseverance, goodness, faithfulness and generosity. It has been a blessing to see these values genuinely demonstrated by our students both inside and outside of the classroom.
High expectations are part of what it means to be Calvary Strong— academically, behaviourally, and spiritually. Over these first weeks, teachers have been establishing clear learning goals, modelling strong work habits, and encouraging students to take responsibility for their learning. We want every student to understand that Hard Work Pays Off, and that through this, they would stretch themselves and see growth in their learning journey.
As parents, my encouragement is for you to ask your children questions at night. Some simple suggestions include:
What was a highlight for your day and why?
What challenged you the most and why?
What did you do at lunchtime and who with?
Part of these healthy conversations is to provide a space for your child to share what is on their mind, to download their worries from the day, and help you gain insight into their learning journey. These simple conversations at home about what your child is learning, checking in on homework and organisation, and celebrating their daily efforts all reinforce the message that learning matters. Together, we can help our students build confidence, resilience, and a deep sense of pride in their achievements.
We are excited for the year ahead and grateful for the trust you place in us. Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to nurture, challenge, and inspire every learner at Calvary Christian College.
Yours in Christian Education,
Paul Thompson
