The wonderful Library team will be hosting many activities for students as we celebrate Book Week from Monday, August 24 until Friday, August 28.
This year, our annual dress up parade is being held on Tuesday, August 25. This is a modified event and will be held in two separate, smaller parades.
Unfortunately, parents and family members will not be able to attend this event but the College will have photos from the event on our Facebook page. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS - DATE & LOCATION CHANGE
Due to COVID-19 restrictions we have had to relocate our Parent Teacher Interviews, scheduled for Week 9 of Term 3, to the Calvary Church Auditorium. The dates have been changed to Monday, September 14 and Tuesday, September 15. We ask that a maximum of two people attend each booked appointment to adhere with COVID-19 safe practice rules. Please also note that there will be limited waiting areas available on the night, so please arrive and depart in line with your booked interviews.
QCAA INVIGILATORS FOR EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT
The QCAA appoints members of the QLD community to observe and report on the administration of external assessment sessions at secondary schools and approved assessment venues throughout Queensland. Invigilators play an important role in promoting public confidence in the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system and ensuring that proper and fair administrative procedures are implemented.
Applications from QLD community members for invigilator roles are now open. For further information and application process - please click this LINK.
We ask all Calvary families to please remember to practice physical/social distancing measures when on site. This includes staying 1.5 meters apart, and not gathering in the car park, College entry ways, outside of classrooms and in the library and other facilities on site. We appreciate your support in this matter.
A quick reminder as the year goes on that your child's belongings - hat, jumper, jacket, water bottle etc may need to be relabelled. We aim to returned all labelled items in lost property to the rightful owner, this is made easier if items are clearly labelled. We also ask, could you please take a minute to check your child's belongings to ensure they have all of their own items and not taken another student's items by mix-up or mistake.

Calvary Christian College is part of the Thuringowa District School Sport Competition. Inter-school sport is run across three seasons and is played on a Thursday during school hours. All Year 5 and 6 students are encouraged to be part of a Calvary team during this time.
TOWNSVILLE PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORT
Calvary Christian College is affiliated with Townsville Primary School Sports (TPSS). TPSS run three major carnivals throughout the year – Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics.
Students who place in the top 2 – 4 in our College carnivals are invited to represent Calvary at the TPSS Carnivals. If students do well at these carnivals they can then gain selection into Townsville, North Queensland and State teams respectively.
To develop skill and fitness in these major Sport Carnivals, Calvary provides before school training two days a week for those students who wish to receive extra tuition in swimming, running or athletics. These training sessions are conducted at the College Oval and Long Tan Swimming Pool.
THURINGOWA DISTRICT TRIALS - TPSS TRIALS
Students have the opportunity to attend TPSS team sport trial days throughout the year. Students must have prior experience and be competent players in their chosen sport. All trials are after school and it is the parent’s responsibility to get students to and from trials and games.
Selection into these teams gives opportunity for students to participate at a higher level of competition and progress through Townsville District, North Queensland and State Championships. Students wishing to attend trials must be nominated by the school HPE department.
